A North East hotel and spa retreat has made The Times and Sunday Times best place to stay in 2023.
The national newspaper revealed its definitive list of the 100 best places to stay and a location in the North East made the list.
The guide is set to be available on Friday in the form of an interactive guide and as a supplement in the newspaper this Sunday.
Seaham Hall in County Durham has been named as the best place to stay in the North of England according to the newspaper’s guide.
Claire Irvin, head of travel at The Times and Sunday Times, said: “Best Places to Stay 2023 is a celebration of the incredible properties we have here on home soil and, most importantly, the hard-working teams that have made each one of them such a singular success.

“Our recommendations are not easily won and all 100 hotels in this year's list — including our Northern favourite, Seaham Hall — should be extremely proud of the guest experience they've created."
The guide says: “On low cliffs, near a long and lovely beach on the Durham Heritage Coast, Seaham Hall is a forward-thinking five-star that gazes in wonder at the North Sea.
“Its two, new, single-storey Residences with sea views join a Buddhist-inspired spa, eye-catching rooms and exceptional chef and kitchen team. Come for the beach, stay for the food.”
The guide is split into eight regions: London, Southeast, Southwest, Central, East, North, Wales and Scotland.
Writers from The Sunday Times travelled from the Scottish Highlands to the coasts of Cornwall.
