One person was taken to hospital after a crash between a car and a bus shut Saltburn Road both ways this afternoon.
It happened at around 1pm today (Monday, November 28) and emergency services including the fire brigade were sent to the scene.
The road was closed in both directions between Saltburn Bank and Coach Road to enable the emergency crews to work at the scene.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that they were called to the crash at 1.11pm this afternoon.
They said: "We dispatched two double crewed ambulances, a clinical team leader and Great North Air Ambulance's rapid response car.
"One patient was discharged at the scene and another was taken to James Cook Hospital."
Three fire engines were sent to the scene from Loftus, Redcar and Saltburn.
A spokesman for Cleveland Fire Brigade said: "The car was on its head and smoking on arrival and police and ambulance were already on the scene.
"We made the vehicles safe and had left the scene by 2.06pm."
According to the RAC and the AA, the road remains closed at this time (5.35pm).
