A man who suffered serious injuries during a suspected stabbing in Newton Aycliffe over the weekend is in a stable condition, police have said.
The man, in his 30s, was injured at around teatime on Saturday and witnesses reported seeing trails of blood from the boating to a property on Ashfield nearby.
He has been taken to hospital for treatment and while the injuries are serious, they are no longer believed to be life-threatening.

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of affray and bailed pending further inquiries while officers establish the circumstances.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Officers responded to reports of a disturbance in the Newton Aycliffe area on Saturday, November 26, at around 5pm.
“A man in his 30s was found with serious injuries at an address and was taken to hospital.
“He remains in a stable condition and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
“Investigating officers believe that a bladed article was used and that all individuals involved were known to each other.
“Four men have been arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with the incident and were released under investigation while further inquiries are carried out.”

The property on Ashfield was cordoned off by police and on Sunday the property was being examined by forensic officers.
