A police officer is due in court charged with careless driving following a crash while on duty.
PC David French will appear at Teeside Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning after an independent investigation into the incident recommended that he faced criminal charges.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) was brought in by Cleveland Police to investigate an incident on Grewgrass Lane, on May 22, in which a police van and Vauxhall Corsa collided.

The occupants of the Corsa, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, both suffered serious injuries.
Following the IOPC's investigation the case was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service which authorised the charge.
The 38-year-old is charged with driving without due care and attention.
