An international pop sensation has changed his name to Redcar.
Héloïse Adélaïde Letissier, known as the centre of Christine and the Queens, is now known professionally as Redcar.
The choice of name is disappointingly nothing to do with the seaside town on the Teesside coast.
North East fans may be disappointed to know that their beloved Redcar, where today the famous Blast Furnace was demolished, has no bearing of the Tilted singer’s new name.
Letissier recently came out as a trans man, and, according to The Guardian, decided on the name Redcar after the red vehicles that began to take on significance for him in the wake of his mother’s sudden death in 2019.
The new album: Redcar les Adorable Etoiles means “Redcar the adorable stars”
A quick look at his Instagram will tell you there is something of ‘Theatre of the Absurd’ about his music accompanied by text that can be best described as confusing: “Redcar upgrade absurdos legendary. Poetry little bird grand enfant period glove dysphoria redcar.”
