A female pedestrian has been rushed to hospital with serious head and facial injuries after being hit by a car on a North East road.
Emergency services were called to Elwick Road at the junction with Osbourne Road in Hartlepool at around 7.40pm on Monday (November 21) following reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.
After arriving on the scene, police and ambulance crews found a silver Toyota Aygo that had collided with a 29-year-old female pedestrian.

The woman suffered head and facial injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees where she remains whilst receiving treatment.
Officers from Cleveland Police immediately launched an investigation - and have appealed for witnesses to the serious incident.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting incident number 210682.
