A woman’s body has been recovered from the River Tees in Stockton.
Police and fire crews were called to the River Tees in Stockton at around 10.15am on Wednesday (November 16) morning to reports of an incident.
A water rescue unit and fire engine attended the scene while a police helicopter was also reportedly seen in the area.

Cleveland Police has now confirmed that officers recovered a woman’s body from the river.
A port-mortem examination is scheduled to take place and officers have informed a woman’s family. The woman is yet to be formally identified.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police told The Northern Echo: “A woman’s body was recovered from the River Tees yesterday morning around 10:15am, Wednesday 16th November.

“No formal identification has yet taken place, however, officers have informed the family of a woman. A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Meanwhile a Cleveland Fire Brigade spokesperson added: “We were called at 10.20 on 16/11/2022 to attend an incident. Our water rescue unit and one fire engine from Stockton attended. We were then stood down from the incident.”
