Two men charged with the murder of a North East dad-of-one are expected to go on trial next year.
Lee Kenneth Hogg and Terry Dalton are accused of killing Carlos Boyce whose body was found at a property on Homerton Road, Middlesbrough, last Friday.
The 36-year-old had suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another 36-year-old man sustained injuries which required hospital treatment.
Appearing together at Teesside Crown Court, the pair spoke only to confirm their name and date of birth.
Neither defendant was asked to enter a plea to a charge of murder or of causing grievous bodily harm.
Judge Howard Crowson remanded Hogg, 37, of Lindisfane Road, Ormesby Middlesbrough, and 52-year-old Dalton, of Ellerbeck Way, Ormesby, Middlesbrough, in custody until the date of the trial.
Earlier, Mr Boyce’s family paid tribute to ‘the best man in the world’.
They said: "Carlos was a loving and doting Dad, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
“He was loved massively and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
“Carlos was described by his son as the best man in the world and that he was his idol.”
The trial is listed to take place from April 24 next year.
