A two-vehicle crash has shut the A167 in Darlington this morning.
It happened at around 8.30am at Coatham Mundeville and involved a car and a van.
The van ended up in the middle of the road with damage to its front end.
The police and ambulance service were called and the road was closed and remains shut at this time (10.40am) to enable the vehicles to be recovered.
A Durham Police spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision just after 8.30am this morning (November 16) on the A167 at Coatham Mundeville.
"The incident involved a car and a van.
Colleagues from the North East Ambulance Service and County Durham and "Darlington Fire and Rescue Service are also on scene.
"The vehicles have been recovered but the road remains closed while debris is cleared.
"Drivers are asked to find an alternative route."
