A suspect has been arrested for murder after a man died following a suspected stabbing.
Emergency services were called to Dilston Road in Newcastle, shortly after 6am on Monday.
Police attended and found a man with injuries consistent with having been caused by a bladed article.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man, aged 49, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and are currently being supported by specialist officers.
An investigation was immediately launched and following initial enquiries, another man aged 38, believed to be known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
He remains in police custody at this time.

Detective Chief Inspector Angela Hudson, of Northumbria Police, said: “This is a serious incident which has sadly resulted in a man’s death and we are determined to establish exactly what happened.
“We have launched a full investigation and have arrested one man as part of our enquiries.
“At this early stage, we believe all parties were known to each other and that there is no wider risk to the public.
“Our officers remain in the area to carry out a range of enquiries and offer reassurance to the public.
"Anyone with any concerns are encouraged to speak to them directly.
“I would also ask that anybody who saw anything in the early hours of this morning in this location or has any information that may assist our investigation to come forward and let us know.”
