A busy County Durham supermarket will close this month as its sister company prepares to open just a minute around the corner.
Iceland in Bishop Auckland will close its doors to customers for the final time on Monday November 21 as the new Food Warehouse store opens the next day.
Iceland will close at 4pm on November 21 ahead of the new Food Warehouse opening to shoppers at 8am on Tuesday November 22 in the former Carpet Right unit.

Work has been underway over the past few weeks transforming the former carpet shop at the High Point Retail Park into the new supermarket.
Ahead of the opening, a spokesperson for Food Warehouse told The Northern Echo: “The Food Warehouse is continuously striving to offer great value and choice, and customers will have the opportunity to shop the nation’s favourite brands spanning across frozen, chilled, fresh, and branded grocery lines, as well as a wide selection of homeware products too.

“Stocked along the frozen aisles will be a superb range of exclusive brands to The Food Warehouse (and sister store Iceland), including Greggs, TGI Friday’s, Slimming World, Barratts, Harry Ramsden’s, Del Monte, Chiquito and Cathedral City.”
The new Bishop Auckland store is one of two Food Warehouse sites arriving in County Durham, with a second location at North Durham retail park set to open this Tuesday (November 15) at 8am.
The North Durham store has created a further 26 jobs for the local community.
Launched just seven years ago, The Food Warehouse now has more than 160 stores across Britain.
