Families have paid their respects to loved ones who have sadly passed away in Darlington and County Durham in recent weeks.

Announcing the passing of a loved one in local news media is a long standing tradition, with daily notices appearing in print and online every day.

Elizabeth Jane Hook, of Gilesgate aged 92, passed away peacefully on Monday 31st October with her loving daughter by her side.

Beloved wife of the late Tom, dearly loved mam of Maralyn and a dear mother-in-law of Geoff, also a cherished nana of Andrew, Daniel and Nichola and a great-grandma of Alfie and Alice Jean.

Would family and friends please meet for service and committal at Durham Crematorium on Tuesday 15th November at 2:00pm.

Family flowers only, donations in lieu if so desired maybe be left for The British Heart Foundation, The Macmillan Nurses and Hallgarth Care Centre, Durham A box will be provided.

Family request for bright clothing to be worn.

Paul Robinson

Paul Robinson, of Bishop Auckland aged 77, died peacefully on the October 24, in Bishop Auckland General Hospital.

 Paul was a devoted husband of Betty, much loved brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and good friend to many.

Will friends please meet for service in St. Mary's R.C. Church on Friday 11th November at 10:30a.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium.

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers to be shared between Darlington Memorial Hospital and Bishop Auckland General Hospital.

Darrel Dobson

Darrel Dobson of Bishop Auckland died suddenly aged 40 on October 28.

He was a devoted dad of Kai and Lesha, loving son of Beverley and the late Anthony, dearly loved brother of Kayleigh and Georgia, a dear uncle to Louis, also a much loved nephew, cousin and good friend to many.

Will friends please meet for service on Monday 14th November at 10:30a.m. Wear Valley Crematorium, Coundon.

Bob Freeman

Bob Freeman died on October 16 aged 76 years.

Beloved partner of Pat, much loved dad of Karen, Claire, John, Angela, Ryan and stepdad of Paul, a loved father-in-law of Donald, Julie, Darren and Sarah, a dearly loved grandad of Becca, Josh, Jake, Zach, Dylan, Jack, Ellie, Neve and Emilee, a dear great-grandad to Ophelia, will be sadly missed by all his family and friends - especially his jokes.

Funeral service to take place on Wednesday 16th November in West Cemetery Burial Chapel Darlington at 1.00pm, prior to private interment in West Cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu towards the purchasing of a memorial bench.

Jacqueline Beere

Jacqueline Beere, of Barnard Castle, died peacefully at St. Teresa's Hospice on October 24 after an illness borne with great courage and dignity, aged 63 years.

Dearly loved wife of Paul, much loved mum of Claire, Suzanne and Victoria, loving nanna to Freya, Bobby, Edith, Finley, Noel and Flynn, beloved daughter to Daphne and the late Alan and loving daughter-in-law to Enid.

Funeral Service at St Mary's Parish Church, Barnard Castle on Friday 11th November at 3.00pm followed by private cremation.

Friends please meet at the church. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired may be given for ITU Freeman Hospital, St Teresa's Hospice and Church Funds.

Walter Moss

Walter William Moss of Bloomfield Road Darlington, passed away peacefully in Ventress Hall Care Home on 22nd October, aged 85 years.

Beloved husband of Jean, devoted dad of Sandra, Wendy and Nigel, also a much loved grandad, great-grandad, brother, uncle and friend.

Will family and friends please meet for a service at West Cemetery Chapel Darlington on Monday 14th November at 1pm.

Curry Hilda McGuire

Curry Hilda McGuire of Bishop Auckland formerly of Spennymoor, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on 21st October at University Hospital of North Tees aged 86 years.

Devoted wife to the late Terry, dearly loved mother to Paul and Valerie, treasured nana to Haley and Johnathan, great-nana to Flynn and Ella, a loving aunty and a friend to many.

Funeral Service to take place at Durham Crematorium on Monday 14th November at 3pm.

Arthur Rudd

Aruther Rudd of Bishop Auckland died peacefully at home with his loving family on October 26, aged 91 years.

Devoted husband of the late Mary Kathleen. A much loved dad to Lynne and Michael. Respected father-in-law to Steven and Judy.

Beloved grandad to Mary, Michael and Stephanie. A loving great-grandad to Billy and Joey.

A dear brother to Alan and the late Audrey, brother-in-law to Iris and the late Sid, also, a dear uncle and good friend to many.

Will family and friends please meet for service at The Wear Valley Crematorium, Coundon on Monday 14th November at 12:30pm.

Ray Robinson

Ray Robinson of Spennymoor passed away peacefully on Wednesday 2nd November with dignity and courage after a battle fought right up until the very end with his loving family by his side in Lothian House Care Home aged 79.

Dearly beloved dad of Claire and Emma, much loved granda to Emily, Nicholas, Amelia and Darcy.

A dear father-in-law to Tony and Paul, a much loved twin, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Funeral to be held on Monday 14th November 2022.

John Robinsons

John Robinson of Spennymoor and former United Bus Driver passed away at home on the 30th October 2022 aged 92.

Beloved husband of the late Isobel (Isa). Much loved dad of Ian, Dorothy and Peter, dear father-in-law, granda and great-granda.

Funeral service at Durham Crematorium will take place Wednesday 16th November at 3pm.

 Family flowers only donations in lieu may be left at the service if desired to support The British Heart Foundation.
