Adjacent to the hotel you’ll discover one of the most impressive waterfalls in the country. Wrap up warm and enjoy a wintry woodland walk down to High Force Waterfall this season and see the incredible force of the River Tees as it plunges 21 metres over the rocks.
The colder months are when the waterfall is at its most powerful due to increased rainfall and it oftens cascades in multiple streams down the rocky outcrop or may even freeze.
This season families can experience an additional element during their outdoor adventure at High Force, with a magical festive reindeer trail. Collect an activity sheet from the admissions team and keep an eye out for Rudolph and his friends who will be hiding amongst the trees.
Along the way children can also seek out woodland animals including a moon-gazing hare, wise owl and friendly fox who have made the woods their home. Take a photo in the Giant’s Chair and try out Cordelia the caterpillar’s balancing beam.
Waterfall admission costs £2.50 per adult and £1 per child. Tickets can be purchased on site or online for families with a 10% discount.
