A woman from Stokesley has bagged a role on a popular BBC One daytime TV show.
Ruby Hoggarth will be making her TV debut on Doctors next Monday (November 7) at 1:45pm on BBC One.
Having graduated from drama school in 2020, during perhaps the worst time for performance artists ever, Ruby’s hopes of making it in the world of acting had plummeted before the she snapped up the role of Tamsin Connor in Doctors.
Ruby plays a senior advisor for the Department of Work & Pensions and she found the filming process a joy.

Ruby said: “When I tell people I’m going to be in Doctors they assume I’ll be a nurse but I told them, no it’s much more glamourous than that! I’ll be working for the Department of Work and Pensions!
“It’s really a good episode about people needing support and how they can go about getting it and all the red tape that often gets in the way for those needing support and irony of ironies is that two weeks before I filmed the episode, I was also on Universal Credit which is not a position I thought I’d be in, certainly not so early on in my career.
“We’ve peddled this tale that getting a degree makes you more employable but I was one of many who graduated at a time where that wasn’t the case anymore.”
The Guilford School of Acting graduate said that everyone turned to the arts during lockdowns as escapism but she was unimpressed by how little emphasis was put on helping actors, dancers and musicians during and after the height of the pandemic.
The former member of Darlington Operatic Society said: “Filming the episode back in July was a really good experience. Of course, this was my first time on a TV set so I wasn’t really sure what to expect but it was great to go to the BBC Drama Village in Birmingham and see how it all works and I really hope to do more of this stuff in the future, I’m a big believer in manifesting your goals.”
