A grounded boat has appeared on a North East beach – but it didn’t come out of the sea.

Confused locals spotted the grounded fishing boat on Redcar beach on Thursday (November 3), with some stopping by to take pictures of the vessel.

But the boat didn’t come out of the sea and was instead lowered onto the beach by a huge red crane earlier on Thursday morning.

The blue boat arrived as part of preparations for a new BBC series, set to film on Redcar’s beach over the coming days.

Crews are set to descend on the beach next week for filming of a new drama, which The Northern Echo understands is called ‘Boat Story’.

Further details of the new drama are limited, however casting callouts had previously been made for extras to play armed police officers and dog walkers for the filming dates next week.

The Majuba car park will be closed next week to make way for film crews as they descend on the town.
