Three more North East Tory MPs been given jobs in Rishi Sunak’s new government.
Thirsk and Malton MP Kevin Hollinrake has been given his first ministerial job as a junior business minister after supporting his constituency neighbour Mr Sunak to be the next Tory leader.
And Hexham MP Guy Opperman has been reappointed as a minister at the Department for Work and Pensions, after resigning in the Summer over Boris Johnson’s leadership before making a temporary comeback, and then being kicked out by Liz Truss.

They become the latest North East Tory MPs to join the cabinet, alongside Bishop Auckland MP Dehenna Davison who has kept her job as Levelling Up Minister, now under Michael Gove’s leadership.

Davison told the Echo earlier this month in her first major interview since taking the new role that Levelling Up is at the heart of the government’s agenda.
However, some of the region’s Tories lost their top jobs after Rishi Sunak became PM this week, including Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland MP Simon Clarke who resigned as Levelling Up Secretary, and Berwick MP Anne-Marie Trevelyan who lost her job as Transport Secretary.

It comes as Rishi Sunak has completed a full reshuffle of his cabinet this week since becoming PM on Tuesday.
The Richmond MP aimed to reassure markets by replacing Liz Truss’ top team after her she stepped down, becoming the shortest serving PM in British history.
On Friday (October 28) Rishi Sunak insisted that the Tory party is now “united”, during his first public visit as Prime Minister at Croydon University Hospital.
