The generous owner of a North East sandwich shop is offering hot meals for children this week for just £1 as the cost of living rises.
With pupils off school this week for half-term, the owner of Top Nosh in Hexham, Karen Robinson, decided to offer a selection of children's hot meals at a heavily discounted price.
No extra purchase is necessary to qualify for the £1 offer.
"With the cost of energy going up, a lot of families rely on the school dinners and a hot meal for their child so I just thought if we could help in any way, shape or form," said Karen.
"If it saves a family having to put their cooker on a couple of times then the electricity they will save is massive.
"I'm always willing to help."
The meal options are: Sausage, chips and beans, fish, chips and beans, and pasta and tomato sauce.
During October half-term in 2020, Top Nosh gave hundreds of free packed lunches to children who needed it after the Government voted against proposals to extend free school meals over the holidays.
A JustGiving page set up by Karen also raised over £4,000, which went towards hampers for children during the Christmas holidays.
Karen said this is something she would also like to do again this year.
"As long as the business is still doing as well it is, I think I'll always try and help out," she said.
Top Nosh, which celebrated 10 years of serving customers earlier this year, is based in Haugh Lane Industrial Estate.
