Plans have been submitted to Darlington Borough Council to change the use of a retail unit to an amusement arcade.
The application property is a corner unit at the junction of Northgate and Crown Street located within the Town Centre area of Darlington.
The entrance to the ground floor unit is located off Northgate which is formed as part of the main shop front elevation. The remainder of the shop front runs along Crown Street.

The ground floor unit, which is the subject of the change of use application is currently a vacant retail unit. Its previous use was of an electronic game and software shop.
The ground floor unit is comprised of a large open plan retail area with various back of house store rooms. There will be minimal changes internally other than re-decoration and replacement floor finishes.
It is proposed that the existing shopfront will be retained and redecorated with new signage. These works will be addressed under a separate application for advertisement consent.
The property is located within the Town Centre Conservation Area on Northgate.
There are no external alterations proposed within the context of the application.
