Police officers investigating finding a body in the River Nidd on Saturday (October 15) morning have given an update on the case.
Specialist officers from North Yorkshire Police attended the Nidd Viaduct in Bilton at around 8pm yesterday following a member of the public alerting them to a body in the River Nidd.
After condoning off the area, the emergency services investigated the scene and confirmed that a man in his 40s had been found in the river near Harrogate.
The area was sealed off for several hours to allow the police to work.

A statement at the time read: "Shortly before 8am this morning (Saturday 15 October) we received reports of a body in the River Nidd near Harrogate.
"We are in attendance at the incident close to the Nidd Viaduct in Bilton.
"The body is that of a white man, believed to be in his 40’s. He is yet to be identified."
Now, 24 hours after the police confirmed finding the body, they have announced more details on Sunday (October 16) by saying that they have formally identified the body and informed the man's next of kin.
While he hasn't yet been officially named, North Yorkshire Police assured members of the public that investigations continue into the case.
In an updated statement on Sunday, a spokesperson for the police force said: "Further to the recovery of a man's body from the River Nidd in Bilton, Harrogate yesterday morning, the man has now been identified and his next of kin have been informed.
"Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of his death.
