Jet2 has announced a new route from Newcastle Airport as part of its latest summer schedule – but you’ll have to wait a while until you can fly it.

The budget airline has revealed a new weekly flight to Chania in Crete from the North East airport starting in Summer 2024.

It comes as the airline announced its biggest ever summer flight schedule for 2024, including 120 flights a week from Newcastle Airport and more than 180 flights a week from Leeds Bradford.

The new flight to Chania means the airline will now run four flights a week to the Greek island of Crete from the North East.

Jet2 CEO, Steve Heapy, said: “We know that customers are looking to book in advance so that they can get the best choice of dates, rooms and resorts, as well as lock in their price now and spread the cost. In response to this demand, we have put a huge Summer ‘24 Sun programme on sale nice and early from seven of our UK bases.

“With Summer ‘24 available to book, we are offering flights and holidays across four seasons, so whether their customers are looking to book ahead or last minute we have their plans covered.”

Other popular destinations available to book now include Tenerife, Mallorca, Faro and Dalaman.

Jet2 was the only UK airline not to cancel a single flight this summer, with no cancellations in July or August, according to data from travel company OAG.

Mr Heapy added: “The scale and size of our programme, combined with our track record of looking after customers and getting them away on their holidays, means we are looking forward to a huge Summer ‘24, and we know that the programme will be enormously popular.

“With a further three of our UK bases to go on sale for Summer, we are looking forward to revealing more details about our programme very soon. There are further exciting announcements in the pipeline too, so customers and independent travel agents should expect more good news about our Summer ‘24 operations soon.”
