A fireworks display is being organised at Seaton Carew by Hartlepool Borough Council next month.
The news comes as the fireworks display in Middlesbrough was cancelled due to “internal capacity issues”.
Middlesbrough Borough Council, however, has distanced itself from any involvement with that event.
The Middlesbrough display was being organised by Crow Events, which also runs the popular Hoppings funfair in Newcastle.

A statement circulated on social media and the ticketing website Skiddle reads: “Council have cancelled event due to concern of high numbers and major traffic congestion. If you have purchased tickets for this event, please check your email or order history for further information.”
A statement from the organiser, announcing the cancellation, read: “Due to internal capacity issues we are no longer able to deliver the Middlesbrough Fireworks event.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and all customers who have bought tickets will be automatically refunded. We are excited to begin planning the Middlesbrough Fireworks event for 2023 and will be bringing details of that forward in the near future.”
Details of the Hartlepool display are yet to be revealed although we do know the event is free.

On Facebook, residents have had their say on the planned event.
Lesley Maule said: “I think all of Stockton and Middlesbrough will be going to the Hartlepool one.”
Amy Chantelle Wright said: “Until this one gets cancelled too.”
Other than some people expressing concern for the welfare of their pets during loud displays, most people were happy to hear there is an option for them to see some fireworks.
The Northern Echo approached Hartlepool Borough Council for comment.
