Darlington's new Lidl is well underway as pictures taken this week revealed how the distinctive structure is taking shape.

That is the new multi-million pound chapel in West Cemetery on Carmel Road North, which saw work start on it last March.
However, some have contacted The Northern Echo to say that both buildings appear to look very similar, with some having to take a double look.

From ground level, a similar tone of colour helps both structures blend in with the sky around - although the huge giveaway is that the Lidl has now seen signs installed.

The new Lidl is expected to be joined by a Home Bargains and Starbucks drive-thru after they were approved by the council.
Meanwhile, the new crematorium building is due to be completed later this year.
