Beamish Museum welcomes around 800,000 visitors every year - so it is no surprise that it takes a team of over 350 paid staff and 400 volunteers to keep the attraction ticking over.
The most popular paid attraction in the North East is searching for a fresh crop of people to join its team - doing everything from frying chips on a period-appropriate coal-fired range, to making decisions about the future of the museum on their board of trustees.

Fryer - Food Beverage Engager
Salary: £9.71 to £10.06 per hour
The successful candidate will need to be a team player and want to engage with visitors through the safe, efficient and hygienic frying of fish and chips within the museum’s fish and chip shops including operating coal-fired ranges
Keeper of Social History
Salary: £27,190 per year
In this role, you will have the chance to oversee visitor engagement with the museum and represent a diverse set of stories from across the North East, bringing together the rich social, agricultural and industrial heritage of the region.

Cook - Food and Beverage Engager
Salary: £9.71 - £10.06 an hour
1950s Town Engager
The Cook will join Beamish's Food and Beverage team and will take responsibility for cooking, food preparation, and baking within exhibits, outlets, and kitchens.
1900s Town Engager
Salary: £9.71 per hour
1900s Town Engagers will work across the museum's 1900s town, helping to get visitors engaged with retail exhibits and outlets. You will help to tell the story of everyday working life in the North East, bringing to life the region's vibrant heritage.
1950s Town Engager
Salary: £9.71 per hour

Chair
Salary: voluntary role, with reasonable expenses
The successful candidate will act as the chair of Beamish's board, and help to shape the future of the museum.
You will work alongside the CEO, executive team, staff volunteers and stakeholders to ensure the museum continues to grow, develop and thrive.
Trustees
Beamish is also seeking 13 trustees for its brand new board of governance and is hoping for applicants with a diverse range of skill sets and backgrounds.
The role is described as "a great opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping our future strategic direction for generations to come".
