A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a Northumbria University student inside a block of flats.
Aaron Ray, 21, appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court, accused of the murder of a 24-year-old man, who has yet to be named.
The alleged killing happened at the Mansion Tyne student accommodation block, on Howard Street, Newcastle, on Tuesday, September 27.
Ray, of Mayfield Road, in Sunderland, was not asked to plead to the charge.
He was remanded in custody to next appear before a judge at Newcastle Crown Court on October 4.
