Popular TV chef Si King has pledged his support behind a national day of action against the cost of living crisis.
The "Enough is Enough" campaign will be in Newcastle on Saturday, October 1 as part of the Enough is Enough protest.
The Newcastle Day of Action will assemble for a rally at Grey’s Monument from 12pm to hear from speakers including: Ian Lavery MP, Jamie Driscoll (North of Tyne Mayor), Lisa Doherty from NUFC Fans Food Bank, striking workers and trade unionists from the RMT, CWU and other unions, plus many more.

Si King has yet to confirm his attendance at the event but is fully behind the cause.
Speaking ahead of the event, Newcastle Enough is Enough supporter Si King of the Hairy Biker's said: "Community, conversation and informed debate has never been more important. Millions of hard-working people and families across our country are being forced into poverty and utter desperation due to the cost of living crisis.
“There is a complete lack of will and empathy from those who have the power to change a system that favours corporate power and wealth over normal people.
“It’s simply, unfair, unjust and inhumane. It’s not about party politics or empty soundbites.
“It's about a fair and equal system for all. The establishment and politicians work for us! Do your jobs as we do and make the fair changes to help the majority of our nation's population. Enough is enough."
Following the demonstration, participants will then be invited to join RMT and CWU picket lines to show support for workers striking for a real pay rise, protest the economic crisis and demand an end to the cost of living crisis — turning anger into action.
Enough is Enough’s Regional Coordinator for the North East Declan Mulholland, added: “Hard working families in the North East are living in destitution and desperation whilst the rich get handouts. It's totally unacceptable, the working people of our region deserve better. We are gathering this Saturday to say Enough Is Enough.”
