The second phase of a vital upgrade on the A19 near Stockton is set to begin next week, bringing smoother journeys for thousands of drivers.
The resurfacing work currently taking place on the A19 north of the A689 interchange at Wolviston will switch from the southbound to the northbound carriageway starting from Monday, October 3.
The concrete surface northbound between the A689 Interchange and the end of the concrete carriageway will be upgraded, with work taking place until November 8.
During this period, the road will close overnight from Monday to Thursday, between 8pm and 6am.
Traffic will be diverted via the A689 and A179 to re-join the A19 at the Sheraton Interchange.

From the evening of Friday, October 7, there will be weekend closures from 8pm on Friday to 6am on Monday of the section of the northbound carriageway directly under the A689 Wolviston Interchange. Road users will be diverted up and over the Interchange.
This is the last stretch of concrete surface on the A19 to undergo an upgrade, which will ensure roads remain safe, dependable and durable.
National Highways Project Manager Michael Morgan said: “We are introducing a low noise surface, so drivers will notice the route becoming smoother and quieter.”
While work takes place, anyone planning to travel during these times is advised to plan journeys in advance and allow more time to reach their destination.
