A second man has appeared in court charged with conspiracy to murder and possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life following a firearms incident in the region.

Jak Hughes, 22, of Tees Court, South Shields, appeared before magistrates in South Tyneside this morning in connection with a disturbance shortly after 9pm on September 21.

Police were called to Brownlow Road in South Shields after it was reported someone had discharged a firearm at an address before making off.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

Earlier this week Aaron Giles, 28, of Richardson Avenue, South Shields, appeared before magistrates charged with the same offences as Mr Hughes.

Both men are expected to appear at Newcastle Crown Court next month and were remanded into custody.
