As the cooler Autumn days draw in many of us will be taking every opportunity we can to get outside and get some fresh air on a weekend.
With Google searches for ‘walks near me’ increasing in the past month, it’s clear many of us want to get outside and explore some of the region’s beauty spots on foot.
Just five minutes from the A1 and within an hour’s drive for most of the region, Northumberlandia is a perfect spot to explore this weekend.

The impressive destination is a man-man land sculpture of a female figure which lies in the Northumbrian countryside - and has become a bit of a hidden gem.
If you’ve never visited before, chances are you may have spotted her as you come in to land at Newcastle airport.
Completed in 2012, the landform was built by mining company Banks as part of a deal to transform an area which had been an open-cast mine. Northumberlandia was made using 1.5 million tonnes of soil and is an impressive 100ft high at the highest point.
Now the site boasts a 4 miles of beautiful walk over the land sculpture and incredible views for those who walk all the way to the top to see miles over the Northumbrian countryside, towards Newcastle City Centre and out to the North Sea.
Where is Northumberlandia?
Northumberlandia is situated next to the Snowy Owl pub, just off Blagdon Lane, near Cramlington.
It is just a five minute drive away from the A19 and A1 at the Seaton Burn roundabout, making it easily accessible across the region.
