A biker has been taken to hospital with head injuries after a “horrendous” crash took place just outside a North East petrol station.
A biker has been taken to hospital with head injuries after a collision between a motorbike and taxi in Northumberland this morning (September 28).
The crash which witnesses described as “horrendous” took place just outside a Spar petrol station on Station Road, Bedlington.
The road was littered with plastic and glass debris with pictures of the scene showing significant damage to the side of the taxi.

In an update, police said emergency services attended the scene and the man’s injuries were not expected to be life-threatening.
A Northumbrian police spokesperson said: “At 11.55am today (Wednesday) we received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a motorbike on Station Road, Bedlington.
“Emergency services attended the scene and the male rider of the motorbike was taken to hospital with head injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
“The driver of the car remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.”

A recovery truck appeared in the afternoon to collect the damaged vehicles and clear debris from the road.
Traffic continued as normal after the crash and cars were still able to access the main entrance of the Shell garage.
