Armed police caused panic to residents on a County Durham terraced street on Saturday (September 24) lunchtime after they stormed a property and blocked traffic from the street.
Specialist officers from Durham Police were seen on Princess Road in Seaham at around 1pm with numerous residents standing around alarmed at the situation.
Alongside the police officers, four other police vehicles could be seen parked up with their blue lights flashing, while several other armed officers could be seen on the surrounding streets.
It’s not yet known why the specialist officers were required at the scene, but they blocked the road for around an hour.
No official police cordon was in place during the incident – but cars were seen turning round after they were blocked from continuing down the street by the armed officers.
Shortly after the incident, several images were released of the scene which showed residents outside their properties and the armed officers brandishing their guns, while another image showed someone in handcuffs surrounded by police units.
