A man in his early 20s has been arrested after a car was stolen with a two-year-old child strapped in the back seat - along with a kitten inside.
A toddler was sitting in the back seat of a Vauxhall Vectra which was stolen from Quarrington Hill near Durham on Wednesday evening.
The vehicle was later found abandoned in the nearby village of Ludworth.
The girl was returned unharmed and safely to her family.

Police have today arrested a local man in his early 20s in connection with the incident as an investigation continues.
The kitten which was also in the vehicle at the time has since been recovered and reunited with its owner.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: “Anyone with information which could help our inquiries is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Andy Davison, of Durham Constabulary, on 101, quoting incident reference 341 of September 21.”
