It has been confirmed that the hugely popular Arctic Monkeys will be coming to the North East next year as part of their UK tour.

The British rock band are set to play at the Middlesbrough Riverside Stadium on June 5 2023.

Fans everywhere will be happy to hear the news after it was 2018 that the band was last in the North East when they played at Metro Radio Arena.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen has welcomed the news, saying it was another “huge coup for the Riverside”.

The news follows the recent performance from The Killers at the Riverside Stadium which saw fans flock to the North East from across the country.

Mr Houchen added: “Get on your dancing shoes - The Arctic Monkeys are coming to Boro!

"This will be one of the biggest tours next year – The Arctic Monkeys are a global band who have headlined Glastonbury, sold millions of records and filled stadiums and arenas around the world and now they’re coming to the Riverside.

“Thousands will be queueing up to look good on the dancefloor for yet another major concert, getting people spending in our towns, supporting local businesses.”

He continued to argue that Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool people will “definitely wanna know about this one.”

He added: “It cements our ability as a region to successfully stage large complex events with the likes of Take That, the BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and the Rugby League World Cup all choosing to come here.
