Excitement is building for the opening of a popular chain restaurant in Durham later this month after a date has been set for the grand unveiling of the brand-new venue – more than 18 months after it was first announced for the city.
In July 2021, it was revealed that steakhouse brand Estábulo would be moving into Durham’s Riverwalk facility – joining other household names Cosy Club, Turtle Bay, and Pizza Punks.
Fast forward 18 months and a date has finally been announced for the facility – which is expected to boast all-you-can-eat cuts of meat, and salad, alongside an impressive drink menu and neon décor.

After setting up the city centre location, Estábulo will open to customers on September 28, with online bookings available from October 3.
Revealing the news on its social media platforms, Estábulo said: “It’s been a long time coming but we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll open our doors at The Riverwalk from Wednesday the 28th of September.
“We’ll be open for walk-ins only for the rest of that week, but tables are available to book online now for Monday the 3rd of October onwards! Who’s joining us?”
Now that an announcement has been made – what can people expect from the restaurant?
With several other chain restaurants open in York, Harrogate, and Darlington, diners can expect plenty of meat dishes from the Brazilian grill house.
The concept of the restaurant works by customers having a card that they switch from green to red, depending on whether they want more cuts of meat brought to their table.
For £21 at lunch and £32 for dinner, diners can have as much meat, salad, and sides as they desire.
There is also a fish and vegetarian menu available – while a range of drinks is also in store for those that choose to visit.
