A man has died while inside Newcastle Airport's terminal building, it has sadly been confirmed this afternoon.
Northumbria Police has confirmed to The Northern Echo the tragedy took place after reports of a "medical emergency" over the weekend.
It is understood the man, who has not been named, had died after going through to the departure lounge at the airport.

In a statement, the force confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and that a report would be filed for the coroner.
A spokesperson said: “At about 8am on Saturday (September 17) we received a report of a medical emergency inside Newcastle International Airport.
“Emergency services attended but sadly a man was later confirmed as deceased. His next of kin are aware.
“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be made for the coroner.”
The North East Ambulance Service and Newcastle International Airport have been approached for comment.
