Two people were arrested after police stopped a suspected stolen vehicle on a residential street in Sunderland.
Several police vehicles attended the scene on Cardwell Street yesterday afternoon (Monday, September 19) and a man and a woman were arrested.
The man, aged 26, has since been charged with disorderly conduct, while the 23-year-old woman was given a penalty notice
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 1.30pm on September 19, we received a report that a suspected stolen vehicle had been sighted on North Road, Ponteland.

“Officers carried out a search which resulted in the vehicle being stopped on Cardwell Street, Sunderland.
“The vehicle was recovered and two people, a woman, 23 and a man, 26, were arrested in connection with the incident.
“The man has been charged with disorderly conduct and is due to appear at South Tyneside on October 6.
“The woman has been issued with a penalty notice.”
