A man has been arrested and a murder investigation launched after a death was reported in the region at the weekend.
What happened?
Police made an urgent appeal following a serious assault in Newborough, Scarborough at 9pm on Saturday, September 17.
The victim, a man in his 50s, suffered serious and was taken to hospital where he since died.
A murder investigation was then launched with officers continuing to urge anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.

They were also asking local residents and businesses to check if CCTV and dashcam systems for any footage of the incident or people involved.
What’s the latest?
At 8pm the next day (Sunday, September 18) officers arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
The man remains in custody at this time and enquiries into the crime are ongoing.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Police are particularly appealing for a crucial witness who was at the scene to come forward. Please call 101 quoting reference 12220166855 or email majorcrimeunit@northyorkshire.police.uk.”
