Officers investigating the death of a man in Scarborough last night have arrested a suspect.
The 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at this time.
It comes after a man died following an incident in Scarborough last night.
Officers attended a report of an assault on Newborough shortly after 9pm on Saturday (September 17).
The victim, a man in his 50s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he has since sadly died.
A murder investigation is underway, and North Yorkshire Police are continuing to urge anyone who was in the area around Newborough or Eastborough at about 9pm last night to come forward.
They are also asking residents and businesses to check if CCTV and dashcam systems have any relevant footage, and contact us straight away if so.
