Darlington Indoor Market may be going through an extensive redevelopment to update its image - but a wave of traders have continued to leave.
New stalls and events have appeared over the past year as part of expansion works, however, sadly, some established and historic businesses have also left.
Six 'street food' traders opened when the market was revamped in August 2021, but only two (Spud Gun and Manao Thai) from the existing launch now remain.
But several traders have left in recent months, either relocating to elsewhere in the town or ceasing trading all together, however the market's owners MAM insists there are others lined up to replace them.
Here's a round up of all the businesses that have left the market:
Mulholland and Son - ceased trading
The Savoury Cafe - now located downstairs in the Cornmill Centre
Julie's Darlington - now located upstairs in the Cornmill Centre
The Sweet Shop - now located upstairs in the Cornmill Centre
Hannigan's Shoe Repairs - now located upstairs in the Cornmill Centre
Sew Fabrics Darlington - now located on Northumberland Street, Darlington
Shanie At Sixteen barbers - now located in Middleton St George
The Record Shed - now located at Durham Market
IL Cappuccino - ceased trading
Millets – now located in Northgate
Fenwick’s butchers - ceased trading
'Street food' stalls
Yorkie Wrap Co
Despite the closures MAM says it is working to introduce the new traders in the coming weeks.
A spokesman said: "Darlington Markets continues to attract high quality traders, and two brilliant new arrivals will be announced shortly including a new tenant taking up the space occupied by Taste of Budapest who are in the process of preparing for their launch as soon as October.”
