Q E SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
QUEEN Elizabeth Sixth Form College (QE), in Darlington, is entering a new era of education.
Inspiring and empowering students is at the heart of its ethos, as the College continues to invest in state-of-the-art teaching and social facilities, while fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment in which to thrive and succeed.
With a history dating back to 1563, QE has long been proud of its reputation for academic excellence, and continues to attract growing numbers of students from across Darlington, County Durham, Teesside, and North Yorkshire.
With more than 40 different subject options on offer at A Level, its tailored study programmes, delivered by motivated teaching staff using the latest technology and resources, fully support students during two crucial years of learning.
Its academic success speaks for itself. In addition to students securing excellent results, around 700 each year progress to more than 100 different universities, including 200 to The Russell Group.
Amid an educational landscape that continues to evolve, Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College gives its students more; more opportunities, more choices, diversity, and stability.
Principal Tim Fisher explains: “The commitment we make to each and every one of our students is to educate the ‘whole person’, so, not only do we enable them to achieve and succeed academically, but QE also helps them find their voices, grow in confidence, explore their creativity, test their capabilities, cultivate their many talents, and nurture their psychological wellbeing.
“Only through this enhanced level of learning, within a dynamic and forward-thinking college setting, can students realise their true potential and self-worth.”
QE offers an unparalleled enrichment programme, with more than 60 extra-curricular activities, courses and groups, that encourage students to have fun and make friends, while developing key skills, gaining qualifications, or simply exploring new hobbies and interests.
The College also provides numerous leadership opportunities, including the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, Combined Cadet force, and a student Sport Management programme, to enhance personal development and support future applications to universities or employment.
Its national award-winning community group, Interact, has raised thousands of pounds for charities both in the UK and abroad, worked with organisations throughout the North East and North Yorkshire, and supported tens of thousands of people through various care schemes and projects.
Furthermore, the College’s LGBT+ student group has been instrumental in QE’s recent receipt of the full Rainbow Flag Award, a national quality assurance framework for schools and colleges that seek to improve LGBT+ inclusion and visibility.
Tim Fisher adds: “The opportunities are endless for the increasing numbers of students wanting to enrol at QE. We continue to invest millions in our buildings and facilities to ensure we provide the very best, all-round education for 16 to 18-year-olds in the region.”
