Cinemas in the North East are set to show the Queen’s funeral for free.
Vue has announced it will screen the funeral in all its cinemas in the region on Monday (September 19), with all other films suspended.
Tickets are available now for the screenings and are completely free of charge.
The funeral will be shown at 10am in the region’s Vue cinemas in Darlington, Hartlepool, Gateshead and Cramlington.

In a statement on their website, the cinema chain said: “We will be screening the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in selected UK venues on Monday, 19 September, live from 10am.
“Seats will be free of charge and our retail offering on this day will be limited to complimentary bottled water during the broadcast, with no other snacks or drinks available for purchase. On this day we will not be showing our normal programme of films.”
Smaller chain Curzon, which operates a cinema in Ripon, has also announced it will be screening the funeral free of charge.

Meanwhile Odeon and Cineworld will both close on Monday as a mark of respect.
A statement from Odeon read: “As a mark of respect for Queen Elizabeth II all Odeon cinemas in the UK & Northern Ireland will be closed on Monday 19th September. We will re-open again on Tuesday 20th September.”
A Cineworld statement said: “Out of respect to HM Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family, all of our UK cinemas will be closed on Monday September 19, the day of the state funeral. Those who have made bookings for this day will be contacted shortly.”
