Police have launched an investigation after a car was set on fire in the middle of the night.
Emergency services were called to Chapel Place in Seaton Burn, Newcastle shortly after 1am on Monday (September 12) morning to reports of a car on fire with residents reporting hearing a loud bang.
Police and fire crews both attended the scene with the blaze extinguished soon after. Luckily no one was injured.

The incident is being treated as suspected arson with police now appealing for information to help with their inquiries.
A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We can confirm in the early hours of Monday 12th September we received a report of a car on fire on Chapel Place in Seaton Burn, Newcastle.
“The initial call time was 1.16am, and crews from West Denton and Gosforth Community Fire Stations were on the scene in a matter of minutes and were quickly able to extinguish the fire.

“Our firefighters left the scene at 1.37am but the fire is being treated as deliberate and we will continue to support Northumbria Police with their enquiries."
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police added: “At 2.10am yesterday (Monday) we received a report of a car fire on Chapel Place in Seaton Burn, Newcastle.
“Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished. Thankfully nobody was injured.
“Officers are treating the cause of the fire as suspected arson. Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by calling 101 quoting log NP-20220912-0063.”
