Motorists faced severe delays on Saturday morning after a crash on the A1(M) in County Durham.
Several lanes were closed on the northbound and southbound carriageways on the motorway between Chester-le-Street and Washington.
A HGV is reported to have overturned on the central reservation of the road.

A traffic notice from AA read: "A vehicle has reportedly gone over the central reservation, affecting lanes in both directions."
Witnesses reported long queues of traffic in the surrounding area as motorists faced delays on the A1(M) Northbound between J62 A690 (Carrville) and J64 A195 Western Highway (Washington).
Although some lanes have reopened since the incident on Saturday morning, it is unclear when the road will fully reopen.
Durham police and the North East Ambulance Service were contacted for comment.
