One person was taken to hospital following a three-vehicle crash on the A688 which saw the road closed for several hours last night.
The incident happened at around 3.32pm on Wednesday (September 7) and the road was closed soon after for much of the evening.
It happened on the A688 both ways between Staindrop Road and Evenwood lane as residents were asked to avoid the area.
A spokesperson for Durham Police said last night: “The A688 between Staindrop Road (Jet Garage) and Evenwood Gate is currently closed due to a collision.
“Residents are asked to find an alternative route while officers are on scene. The garage remains open. Thank you for your patience.”

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service confirmed that one person had been taken to hospital following the incident.
They added: “We received a call at 3.31pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the A688 in Bishop Aukland between three vehicles, with one person reported to be trapped.
“We sent an emergency ambulance, a Hazardous Area Response Team, a specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader and a doctor from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
“We transported one patient to James Cook hospital by road."
