Residents across the North East were treated to Mother Nature’s light show last night as lightning streaked across the sky.
Heavy rain brought with it thundery showers last night in Darlington with many witnessing bright flashes late into the evening.
The show might not stop there, however, as much of the North East is being treated to more heavy rain and thunder today.

According to the Met Office there will be some sunny spells, but mostly heavy showers which will be thundery at times.
The dreary weather will continue tonight with further outbreaks of heavy and persistent rain, but will ease in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
