A new bar and restaurant is opening its doors on the Newcastle Quayside this week after a stunning refurbishment.
Chart House promises a range of ‘maritime spice route’ inspired food and cocktails with picturesque views over the River Tyne.
The new venue is a world away from the notorious Flynn’s bar which the building was home to in the 80s, and now promises sophisticated dining and drinks.

The building is one of the oldest in Newcastle which survived the Great Fire in 1854 and was historically home to Matthew S Dodds, a former map purveyor to seagoing vessels visiting Newcastle, which has provided inspiration for the new venue’s theme.
Rhys McKinnell CEO of Pub Culture which owns the new ‘Chart House’ said: “The building has so much history and it felt like it deserved to be a restaurant instead of just a bar.
“We’ve carried out a huge refurbishment over the last two months to create a distinctive concept to Newcastle.”
The new venue opened on Wednesday September 7 and will be open Wednesday-Sunday from midday, with food served from 5pm on Wednesdays and 12pm the rest of the week.
