YOUNG girls are urinating in public after getting off the school bus, residents say.

After visiting the shops on the Low Mown Meadows estate, in Crook, the youngsters have been relieving themselves nearby.

Barbara Nicholson, 62, from Foundry Fields, spoke at a Residents' Association meeting: "They are getting off the school bus then going into the shops and going to pee round the corner. I think it is disgusting."

Police Community Support Officer Anna-Maria Murray, said: "I have spoken to many girls about this problem.

"I have spoken to one girl in particular on several occasions and have spoken to the parents."

CCTV cameras are planned to be re-installed in Low Mown Meadows after they were moved to West Auckland.
