A drunken thug who threatened police with a knife when they attended reports of a domestic incident has been locked up as a warning to other people prepared to arm themselves.
Jordan Hill grabbed a kitchen knife while making a series of threats to officers before attempting to stab them when sticking it through a gap in the flat door and threatening to put it ‘through their neck’.
Armed police were called to tackle the 25-year-old as he was behaving aggressively and erratically before he was eventually Tasered to bring him to the ground after he threatened to use a gun on them.
Teesside Crown Court heard how trouble flared while the defendant was in his partner’s flat on Diamond Street, Saltburn, in February this year.

Uzma Khan, prosecuting, said Hill had a history of carrying knives and this was not his first offence of this kind and he was under the influence of drink or drugs.
She added: “He was behaving in an aggressive and erratic manner. They saw him pick up a large kitchen knife and pushes it through a door that has been pushed open by an officer.
“He continues making threats towards the officers, saying he will assault them if they come inside and he threatened to put the knife in the neck of one of one of the officers.
“He repeatedly put the knife through the door before putting it down. He then threatens to use a gun on them or ammonia before making a gun gesture towards them saying he wanted to shoot them or for him to be shot.”
Hill, of Lilac Avenue, Thornaby, pleaded guilty to a charge of affray following the events of February 9.
Tom Bennett, in mitigation, his client accepts that he has a problem with alcohol and is attempting to address the issue.
He added: “It is clearly concerning that he was on a suspended sentence at the time of this offence.”
Judge Chris Smith locked Hill up for six months due to his propensity to carry knives.
“This was really worrying behaviour and puts the safety of police officers in jeopardy and it causes the courts real concern,” he said.
“I have got to send a message out that those who are in possession of knives or worse, using them to threaten others, should expect a prison sentence.
“The real difficulty for you is that you have got a bad history with knives – it’s a very worrying pattern of behaviour.”
