Geordie music superstar Sam Fender is set to play a huge gig at Newcastle’s St James' Park next year after he sent fans into a frenzy by teasing some “really really big news”.
The North Sheilds-born artist announced the gig on Friday (September 2) morning with tickets due to go on sale next week.
Tweeting a clip of him walking out of the tunnel at St James’, the star said: “I always joked that one day we might play St James' Park in Newcastle, and now we're actually gonna (sic) play it on the 9th June next year.

“It's gonna be such a special moment and I hope you all join us for it 🖤🤍 tickets on sale next Friday 9th September.”

It comes after the singer tweeted last night that he had some “really really big news” to announce and attached a mock-up post-match press conference picture showing him wearing a Newcastle United top.
Excitement had been building over the last week after Fender was spotted on the pitch at St James Park leading many fans to believe he was gearing up to announce a gig at the Newcastle stadium.
The gig will be the North Shields-born star’s biggest to date with the venue holding more than 50,000 people.

However, the announcement came after some eagle-eyed fans spotted that the date of the gig had been leaked after posters popped up across Newcastle on Friday morning.
Pictures of the posters posted online suggest that the St James Park gig will be held on Friday June 9 at St James Park with tickets sure to be in high demand.
Fender is yet to officially announce the dates.
Joking about the blunder on Twitter, one user posted a picture of a billboard spotted in Newcastle City Centre, saying: “Next time might be wise to put the posters up after the announcement…”

Tickets will go on sale on Friday September 9.
