A huge power cut in a North East town has left hundreds of homes without power.
Hundreds of homes in Seaham have been left without power this evening after an unplanned power cut.
Northern Powergrid are aware of the problem and are currently working to restore services.
They have estimated that power will be restored by 8.45pm tonight.
Large areas of Seaham have been affected, with the cuts also reaching as high as Ryhope and parts of Sunderland.
The service says the power cut has been caused by problems with cables or equipment serving the area.
A spokesperson for Northern Powergrid said: “The power cut affecting your property has been caused by an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment that serve your area. If you need to report an emergency, please call 105”
