A football fan’s hope of celebrating victory was cut short when he was caught trying to take cocaine in the stadium by a police sniffer dog.
Lyndon Potter was carrying five wraps of the Class A drug when he was trying to get into Middlesbrough’s Riverside stadium last season.
Teesside Crown Court heard how the 22-year-old was planning to take the drugs after the FA Cup game on March 19.
John Nixon, in mitigation, said that Potter had no intention of using the cocaine inside the ground, which would have been picked up by the cameras inside the stadium.

Jenny Haigh, prosecuting, told the court how Potter was searched after an indication from the Cleveland Police sniffer dog.
She added that when he was arrested, he tried to break his mobile phone.
Potter, a father of two, of Roscoe Road, Billingham, was given a twelve-month Community Order and ordered to carry out 80 hours unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to possessing a Class A drug.
Middlesbrough were beaten 2-0 by their London rivals as Chelsea progressed to the semi-final with first half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Hakim Ziyech.
